Down By The Bay:

I’m back to part II of my II week getaway.  I never realize how much I miss my family’s beach house until I come back, year after year.  And then it’s like I never left.  I grew up my entire life spending my summers in Beach Haven, New Jersey (a town on Long Beach Island).  I like to describe our location as the heart of the island, the pulse.  It’s the Soho of NYC.  All the action is literally a block away, and the beach is one block in the other direction.  I know this island very well, and luckily most restaurants and boutiques have stayed the same over the years.  I’m a consistency kind of girl so that’s a plus.  But living down here during the summer is just easy.  It’s easy because I have my mom to help me with the kids (at home I have very little child care), our laundry and our meals.  And forget about clearing my mind and feeling inspired.  When you’re busy with the day to day every day, it’s hard to just think about the now and the future.  We pretty much have our routine set down here, mixing in adventures and outings on the daily (but we rarely drive down here, everything’s walking distance from our house).  There’s nothing like starting the day with a FLAT run and analyzing all of the beachy style houses I see while pouring sweat.  Then there’s nothing like jumping in the outdoor shower before going inside to face the day (and the kids).  While I’m still working from here and going about my business (literally), there’s nothing like the smell of the salt air and the feel of sand between your toes.  To say I’m a happy girl is an understatement.  Cheers to another week!
